From birth to young adulthood, Forbes Library is dedicated to imagination, community, and the pursuit of wonder. Through programs like Baby Storytime, we model early literacy practices for parents and caregivers, and support them as their child’s first teacher. Libraries are a place of exploration as children get older and learn the joy of picking out books that they can read on their own. For tweens and teens, libraries are an important third place between school and home; a place for homework, hanging out with friends, and relaxing.

Transportation & Accessibility

A short walk from downtown, you can get to Forbes by bus, bike,  foot, or car. The library is wheelchair and stroller accessible and has gender-neutral bathrooms on all floors. Forbes also delivers books to patrons with low mobility throughout the Northampton area. There are three ways to access the Children’s and Young Adult department, which is located on the lowest level of the building: the staircase entrance on the west side of the building, the staircase from the main level, and the elevator from the main level.
