The Appalachian mountain dulcimer is a musical instrument from the Appalachian region of the United States. The Appalachian dulcimer is a fretted string instrument, like the guitar, but it its fret board sits directly on the sound board, and its frets are placed so as to produce a diatonic scale, making it an easy instrument for beginners.
