Hal Glier

The Falls

The Falls. Digital Illustration, 24 x 13.5 inches

Hal Glier is an artist, rower, social worker, and author living in Northampton, MA. She grew up in the rolling hills and waterfalls of Shelburne, MA. Glier’s mixed media method morphs watercolor painting, digital illustration, and collage to straddle the boundary between digital vs real – highlighting the otherworldly aspects of everyday scenes. The Falls channels the haunting and ghostly qualities of a hometown – a place that undoubtedly shapes you, but you’ve let go of. It’s a testament to the growth and death that hometowns witness, and we witness in our hometowns. Glier finds much of her artistic inspiration running and rowing along the Connecticut River. You can read more about Hal’s work through her newsletter, website, and instagram.
