This winter, the Hosmer Gallery at Forbes Library invited western Massachusetts artists and writers to submit entries for an online exhibition exploring the many facets of Home.
We received a range of creative work engaging with aspects of the theme, such as Finding Home, Home in the World, Ecologies of Home, Generations, Home In Emergency, Leaving Home, and Dream Home.
We’re gratified to see, read, and hear so many experiences of the intimacy home may provide, the strangeness it can induce, the alienation it may elicit as one seeks shelter in the world.
We selected 117 works by 77 contributors that met the theme in a variety of ways. We are honored to share these art works, poems, and stories with you.
Thanks to everyone who sent work for this call!
Thanks also to Jim Cahillane for his Gazette column on “Home” and for spreading the word.
Special thanks to Benjamin Kalish, Reference Librarian, for expert technical & design support!
