Panoramic image of the front garden, showing the statue of Athena

Standing in the front garden of Forbes Library is a statue of Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. The sculpture was created by artist Brian McQuillan, commissioned and donated to Forbes by Eileen Travis in memory of her husband Tom Ruane. Eileen also designed the garden, which was planted by a crew of volunteers. We are grateful to Brian and Eileen, as well as hardscaping specialist Ben Snape for this beautiful addition to our library grounds.
