Zine & Diorama Fest on Saturday, February 8, 2025 11-4pm
Forbes Library’s resident Zine Club is hosting a Winter-themed/inspired Zine and Diorama Festival. The event will take place from 11-4pm on Saturday, Feb. 8th, in the Reading Room on the main floor of the library. The event will accommodate 20 artist vendors, 12 dioramas, plus host Western Mass Electronics electronic music open mic from 12-3pm, all in an immersively decorated Winterscape.
This all-day Zine Fest will counter the perceived eeriness of a mild Winter by summoning the cold, the wind, and the snow into the library, and inviting the associated psychological effects of introspection, conviviality, and restorative coziness to do their work. Please dress warmly as you browse the wares of local book-artists and book-art adjacent creators. Peer into a plethora of winter-inspired dioramas, microcosms in which the entire season has been painstakingly depicted. Let your ears be soothed or wind-strafed by the susurrations of electronic music as local composers put to sound the drastic physical extremes and existential implications of the barren season. Lastly, take away home a frost flower anthology of winter musings entitled, Winter Exquisite.
Zine Club is a long-standing drop-in library group with ties to the local book-arts community. We meet on the last Wednesday of every month at 6:30-8pm to hang out and make zines. You’re always welcome to join!
