The Friends of Forbes Community Room is located on the Basement level. It measures approximately 22′ x 31′. Tables and chairs are available. The Community Room shares a wall with the boiler room and the custodial offices, and staff may need to pass through in order to access these areas. Care is taken not to be disruptive. Occasional noise may be heard from the boiler room and adjacent elevator.

Procedures and Rules
The Meeting Rooms Policy includes restrictions and rules regarding meeting room reservations and use.
- Limited to groups of 50 people or fewer.
- When reserving the room, specify the number of chairs needed and other equipment needed. Furniture from other rooms in the Library may NOT be used.
- Groups meeting AFTER HOURS must pay $50/hour to a qualified staff person in addition to any room rental fee. Otherwise, all events, including clean up, must conclude 15 minutes before the library’s closing time.
- Sponsors of events serving food and drink are responsible for all clean up and other food arrangements. The Library does not provide flatware or serving dishes. Should cleaning be required after an event, the event sponsor will be charged the actual cost of the cleaning.
- Groups and individuals holding public events in the meeting room are required to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and are encouraged to take a proactive approach to meeting people’s needs. Best practices include:
- having speakers use microphones,
- All requests for accommodations should be given proper consideration; the library can help with requests for reasonable accommodations by contacting 413-587-1017 or info@forbeslibrary.org.
- films shown with captions, and
- promotional materials include language similar to the following: “For questions concerning access or to request disability-related accommodations, please contact PROVIDE PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS. Two weeks notice requested.”
