Forbes Library is adding pollinator friendly plants to the grounds with the help of young gardeners from the library’s Preschool Storytime Explorers on Tuesday, September 17th at 1:45. The group will gather at 1:30 to listen to a storybook about pollinators and then head outside to help the library plant its new garden. Heather Cupo of Plant Euphoria in collaboration with Owen Wormser from Local Harmony chose mostly native plants for the garden that will provide habitat and food for pollinators. This project is being coordinated by the Western MA Pollinator Networks which is working to create pollinator gardens in public spaces throughout the region. “This garden will provide enjoyment to library patrons as well as sustenance to the pollinators who will visit it. It will also serve to raise awareness about the needs of pollinators and how we can help to support this critical component of the food chain,” said Lisa Downing, Library Director. All children ages 3-5 are welcome to attend the storytime and participate in the planting.
