Forms can be picked up in the lobby and the Reference Desk, or delivered via as-needed delivery.

Local Tax Assistance
- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA): Community Action Pioneer Valley
- For eligible residents of Hampshire and Franklin Counties. (For Hampden County, see Valley Opportunity Council.) Eligibility is determined by income amount and type of income. Call 413-376-1136 to make an appointment.
- Get Your Refund: All-Online VITA Service
- Free virtual non-profit tax preparation service for low-income households built by Code for America, in partnership with the IRS, with support from the White House and U.S. Department of Treasury. Eligibility is determined by income amount. Also offered in Spanish.
- Northampton Senior Center Tax Preparation
- Northampton seniors given first priority. Call 413-587-1228.
- AARP Tax-Aide Program
- Free tax assistance with a focus on older adults with low to moderate income. Services start in early February. Access to the different types of taxpayer assistance varies in each locality. Visit the AARP website to find active tax aide sites.
- Senior Tax Work-Off Program
- The Senior Citizen Tax Work Off Program is open to senior citizens (60 years of age and older) who own property in and pay real estate taxes to the City of Northampton. Participants must complete 100 hours of service in the program year (January 1-October 31, 2024). A $1,500 property tax credit minus the required withholdings will be applied to the participant’s real estate tax bill in the following fiscal year.
